Gillingham fans are hopeful that Saturday could be the day when the woeful run of form finally comes to an end. Here’s what our panel of Gills fans think;

This has to be the week we break this curse and get the long awaited away win. Northampton are currently struggling for form and must have a bad feeling about the team who have not won away from home in over a season.
It is all setup for us to take three points, with the returns of Cody and Bayo last week, this is the chance for them to become cult heroes and get this away win we all want. I have confidence in our team and management but this run needs to be stopped, and it needs to be this weekend that it happens.

Dropping 2 points at home, particularly in the manner with which the lead was surrendered, was a real blow last weekend.
'Never Look Back’ is the club motto and never has it been more appropriate. We need the players to forget about the performance against Torquay, forget about the disastrous away form and go in to this game in a positive frame of mind.
Hess (pictured) will want the players to start looking forward and Northampton Town represents a real opportunity to finally secure this away win everyone is desperate for.

I hope we go with an attacking line up and would love to see two up front with Oli on the wing- width is something I believe we’ve been crying out for since Andy Barcham picked up his injury.
Northampton are in a disastrous run of form following their cup heroics earlier in the season (knocking Liverpool out of the League Cup) and we need to take advantage of this.

After Cody McDonald’s goal against Torquay both my heart and head began to believe an away victory against Northampton was truly in the cards. I could see a buoyant team travelling to Sixfields with real belief, especially after the draw against Port Vale. With Torquay’s late goal my hopes sank.
I believe that the team’s confidence will have been hit hard by the draw. My heart wants to predict a 2-1 Gillingham win of which I know they're more than capable. However, my head says that a Gills team with low confidence and possibly two injured strikers will eke out a 1-1 draw.

I don’t think we’ve been playing as badly as the consensus seems to think. We haven’t been tearing up trees, but I can’t imagine there were many Gills fans who genuinely thought we would this season. The team is getting there slowly, and this hasn’t been helped by constant changes of players - no team in this league can be expected to have different players every game and have the football remain seamless.
I also wish people would stop targeting Julian (pictured). It seems like some fans have had it in for him, even though he’s been a good player for us. I’ve said before the basis of a decent team is there and slowly, the football is showing signs of hope. I genuinely believe we’ll turn the corner soon, and why not verusu Northampton?

After last week’s sucker punch my optimism for his game has been dealt a severe blow. Confidence won’t be as high as it could have been if we had held on for the win and I think this will put pay to us getting the win we so long for. Northampton haven’t set the division alight either so if we can get an early goal you never know...

Surely this is the time for our away victory. Northampton haven’t won in six games and sit one off the bottom of the table. Their manager is under extreme pressure. The fans are getting angry and will get on the backs of the players! We are heading up the table as players come back from injury. I think that we will win on Saturday 2-0, with Akinfenwa coming back to score against his old club of course and then the reliable Cody MacDonald to grab another goal.
Our defence is getting increasingly solid and so long as our goalkeeper can get through 90 minutes without making some horrific mistake I think we can keep a clean sheet. I will be at Sixfields, loudly cheering the boys on, as I suspect hundreds others will do and realistically this is our best chance yet to break that away day duck.

Whenever teams play us with long unbeaten record we tend to beat them and it’s the same for teams who haven’t won in a long while. With Gillingham’s long run without an away victory I’m sure we’ll break that record and the Gills will win. Several years ago we played a Leyton Orient side who hadn’t won away in two years and they came here and won. Everyone is Northampton is assuming we'll lose because of our record and so I’m going to have to rule with my head with the score prediction, although obviously I hope we win. I’m sure Akinfenwa (pictured) will get a good reception when he comes back as he was very popular. We made him a good offer but he turned it down and it’s written in the stars isn’t it. He is just coming back from injury for this one.

Prediction: Cobblers 1 Gills 2
