Gillingham finally won a game away from Priestfield at the 35th attempt on Saturday, Cody McDonald's goal earning the points at Oxford United, and out Jury were thrilled to be back to winning ways.

A great performance from Gillingham. Every player was committed and won every 50-50 challenge.
In the first half we completely dominated and got the rub of the green. In the second half we looked nervous, but the defence was outstanding, in particular Tony Sinclair. I thought he played his best game for the club, putting in last-ditch tackles, winning balls in the air and putting his body on the line.
I think that finally we have seen some of the fighting spirit that Andy Hessenthaler promised to instil and everybody played for the shirt.
A special mention must go to the 800 fans who made the trip and sung their hearts out. I don’t think we were silent for more than a minute – in contrast to the Oxford supporters.
Now on to Barnet. With the boys on a high and some real confidence in the camp, I think we can get two away wins on the bounce.

The performance put in by the lads was the best I’ve seen in a long time, they could not be faulted.
Oxford were poor although at times our focus slipped and we let them back into the game, but we hung on and broke that unwanted streak.
I thought Cody McDonald put in the best performance I’ve seen from him and the on-loan trio of Charlie Lee, Chris Whelpdale and Callum Kennedy were class.
This bodes well for tomorrow’s (Tuesday) game with Barnet and the team will go into it with renewed spirit and determination.

I thought Gillingham were outstanding. Charlie Lee is a class above this league and Matt Lawerence was brilliant in the first half.
We played Oxford off the park. Cody McDonald’s persistence paid off for the goal – he worked so hard and so did all the team.
Credit to Andy Hessenthaler and the players as for the first time away from home this season they went at the opposing team.
Well done Gills and let’s get the second away win of the season at Barnet.

Much as it pains me, Gillingham thoroughly deserved their win.
They didn’t play like a team that had gone 34 away games without a win and didn’t lack confidence – but that was perhaps because they knew what poor opposition we would provide.
Good support from the Gills fans, too. I guess they’ve kept turning up in numbers because they did not want to miss the win when it happened.
Gillingham left the Kassam Stadium with all three points, and deservedly so.
It didn’t take long to see that they were the better side as they broke through with relative ease on more than one occasion as United put on an embarrassing first-half display.
The way we play 4-3-3 just doesn’t seem to be working at the moment but the big problem may be down to a complete lack of confidence which has spread through the team and on to the terraces.
