With back-to-back victories behind us, we’ve got plenty of momentum heading into this weekend’s match against AFC Wimbledon.
It’s a massive game and it’s going to be an intimidating place but the boys will be up for it.
With around 750 Gillingham fans heading there, it is sure to create a good atmosphere in a tight ground and with Danny Kedwell going back, I am sure it will be vociferous.
Keds is a legend up there and we’ve watched him play for Wimbledon a few times over the years. They had flags made with his face on it behind the goals and they held him in high regard.
I was delighted to see him get his first goals for the Gills in open play last weekend. He is renowned for his ability in the air and it was a great first goal while the second one was well-worked.
Some people were saying he can only score penalties but you don’t become a leading marksman over the last few years without scoring open play goals.
Saturday’s result against Burton was fantastic although after taking the lead it was disappointing to be level at the break.
The manager had a few choice words and we got the right response, putting the game to bed in the first 15 minutes of the second half.
Frank Nouble scored his second goal in two games during the win, marking his birthday with a goal.
We’ve been on his case, though, because he failed to bring in the cakes at the weekend and despite saying he would do so on Monday, he still didn’t show up with any. It’s been noted!
Apart from that, we have been delighted as Frank has brought us a fresh impetus and he’s working well with Keds.
He has taken the workload off him and they are sharing the goals about.
I’m hoping to get an operation on my knee soon and went up to London to visit a surgeon. It needs a clean out.
Hopefully, I can get that done and get back to training because I do miss it.
Sometimes I wake up and can hardly walk and other days I can run around okay. The sooner I have the operation the better.
I always said I would retire when I was 40 and that will be at the end of January, but you are a long time out of the game.
I want to be out on the pitch, even if it’s in the reserves. It’s good to be out there with the young kids to help them out.
