Dennis Oli made a welcome return off the bench on Saturday as his comeback from a hamstring injury nears its end.

The winger, who limped off early in the FA Cup match against Dover last month, played the final 10 minutes of the game after replacing Charlie Lee.

Boss Andy Hessenthaler said: "For the time that he was on, he put in a good shift and he did well."

It was Oli's ninth apperance of an injury-plagued the season which started with saw him miss the start of the season with a hamstring problem.

He should play some part in Gillingham's reserve team outing against Aldershot at Priestfield on Wednesday afternoon.

The Gills are short of options on the right side of midfield now that Chris Whelpdale has ended his loan, Luke Rooney is suffering with a knee injury and Mark Bentley is recovering from a foot fracture.
