Ross Flitney has had an injection to help the injury which meant he had to sit out last weekend’s trip to Bournemouth.
The Gillingham keeper picked up a knee injury in the latter part of last week but manager Andy Hessenthaler is confident the regular No.1 will be back to face Aldershot on Saturday.
"He has had an injection and there is a possibility he could be fit," said Hessenthaler.
"If the injection does what they say it will, it settles down and he has no problems with it, then I see no reason why he can’t be fit for the game."
Paulo Gazzaniga will again be on standby and ready to make his first league appearance. Fellow youngster Daren Hawkes will be on the bench if Flitney is unavailable.
Gazzaniga made only his second appearance for the Gills last weekend and despite one costly error, Hessenthaler said: "He knew he made a mistake but he also made some fantastic saves. He was humbled by the reception he got from our own fans and full credit to our supporters for that."
Danny Kedwell is a doubt for the game with a toe injury but Curtis Weston, who missed last weekend with an ankle injury sustained in a training collision with Danny Jackman, is back training again and should be fit.
Youngsters Joe Carter (knock) and Jack Evans (concussion) have both been receiving treatment for injuries.
