Gillingham manager Andy Hessenthaler was delighted to see Danny Kedwell end a run of five games without a goal and hopes his first two strikes from open play at the weekend will set him up for the coming weeks.
Kedwell added to the two penalties he scored against Plymouth last month to take his personal goal tally to four on Saturday as Gillingham swept aside Burton 3-1 at Priestfield.
"This could be the kick-start for him," said Hessenthaler. "I think 20 would be the benchmark and, who knows, he could go on a run now.
"He will get goals and you could see that by Saturday’s performance.
"I am really delighted for him and it’s not just that he will get goals but his work ethic is unbelievable."
Fans’ favourite Kedwell targeted 20 goals when he signed for the Gills from AFC Wimbledon in the summer and in the last two games he has been given a helping hand with the signing of West Ham forward Frank Nouble on loan.
