Gillingham manager Andy Hessenthaler admits it's been a "nightmare" week for the Gills thanks to the wintry conditions.

Saturday's scheduled match against Rotherham was postponed on Thursday afternoon after days of frustration for the Gills.

Players have been unable to train throughout the week and Tuesday night’s reserve match against Wycombe was called off, much to the frustration of several players in need of match practice following injury.

Just 10 players made it to training on Wednesday as the Gills used the 442 Sports & Social Club’s indoor facilities.

“It’s been a nightmare,” said Gills boss Andy Hessenthaler (pictured).

“Clubs like ourselves haven’t got some of the facilities that big clubs have and it makes it difficult.

“It’s difficult to get onto the training ground but fortunately we’ve got an indoor area at the 442 club.

“Unfortunately a lot of players just can’t get in where they come from in Essex and London. There’s been training missed and that’s certainly not going to help us for the weekend.”

The Gills are due back in action next Saturday when they travel to Macclesfield.
