Under-fire Gills boss Andy Hessenthaler has wasted no time in dipping into the transfer market after the FA Cup exit at the hands of Dover, swooping to sign Swindon Town defender Callum Kennedy on loan.

The full-back (pictured courtesy of the Swindon Advertiser), who turned 21 on Tuesday, has come through the Robins' youth system and arrives at Priestfield on an initial one-month loan deal.

He will be eligible for Saturday's visit of Crewe and all games up to and including the trip to Rotherham United on December 4.

The youngster can play at left-back or left midfield and made his first senior start as a 17-year-old in Swindon's Football League Trophy win over Brentford in September 2007 before making his league debut the following season.

Kennedy - who will wear the number 32 shirt - could be handed a start against Crewe with John Nutter set to miss out through suspension following his red card against Dover on Saturday.
