Injuries are once again hampering manager Andy Hessenthaler’s pre-match preparations.

The Gillingham manager has had to cope with a catalogue of injuries since the start of the season and was once more hit with problems this week.

Both John Nutter and Dennis Oli doubtful for Saturday’s visit of Burton.

Left-back Nutter picked up a groin injury in training on Monday and Oli aggravated a hamstring injury in the reserves on Tuesday.

Nutter (pictured) has played in six of the seven League 2 matches but is yet another injury headache for manager Andy Hessenthaler.

The Gills boss said: "He picked up a groin problem in a training session and you just can’t legislate for that. It’s just one of those things. Let’s hope it doesn’t keep happening."

Oli, meanwhile, was returning from a hamstring injury and came on as a substitute at Bradford last weekend.

He appeared for the reserves on Tuesday at Aldershot but Hessenthaler was not happy with his condition.

"He is not right yet," said Hessenthaler.

The Gills will also be without Danny Jackman (knee) and Andy Barcham (ankle).

Defender Garry Richards (ankle) looks set to be sidelined for another two months and Simon King (ankle) is looking at a Christmas return at the earliest, though he could return to the training ground for light running in the next few weeks.

Hessenthaler said: "If he (King) can run on grass without any reaction then it’s looking rosier. He is going along nicely but it’s slow progress."

Tony Sinclair is set to return to the squad after a back injury but is unlikely to dislodge the central pairing of Josh Gowling and Matt Lawrence.

Hessenthaler said: "Tony could come back in but he was out at the weekend and Josh came in, and he and Matt Lawrence couldn’t be faulted. Josh was fantastic and Matt Lawrence was again terrific."
