Gillingham ended the weekend nine points off the top of League 2 but boss Andy Hessenthaler believes the gap remains within reach.
After four games the Gills are still waiting for their first win, in a season where promotion is all that anyone is concerned with, but Hessenthaler (pictured) is keeping calm.
The Gills have lost once and drawn three times, including 1-1 at Morecambe on Saturday, during a frustrating first month.
"We just need to get those wins as soon as possible or we will end up playing catch up and we don’t want to do that too much," said Hessenthaler.
"We will bridge that gap if we keep playing the way we are. Morecambe were in the play-offs last year and we pretty much destroyed them but unfortunately only came away with a point.
"We are becoming the draw specialists, which is not nice, but we’re unbeaten away from home and it will come."
Gillingham have scored just twice in their opening four league matches, and the lack of conviction in attack is proving costly.
Hessenthaler said: "We have to show a bit more composure in front of goal but if we weren’t creating chances it would be more of a concern to me."
