Lance Cronin completed his move to Gillingham on Monday evening.

The 24-year-old goalkeeper has signed a one year contract, with the club having an option of extending that for a second season.

Former Ebbsfleet keeper Cronin (pictured) has been training with the Gills throughout the pre-season and has done enough to convince manager Andy Hessenthaler to hand him a deal.

Cronin started out as a youngster at Crystal Palace and had a loan spell with Wycombe before joining Oldham on non-contract terms.

A short stay at Shrewsbury followed before joining Ebbsfleet in 2006 and making a name for himself as one of the top keepers in the Conference. He was called up to the non-league England side and made seven appearances for the National XI.

Cronin played nearly 200 games for the Fleet, including an FA Trophy win at Wembley in May 2008.

He joins the Gills to compete with Alan Julian for the number one shirt.
