Gillingham manager Andy Hessenthaler hasn’t given up on signing John O’Flynn, the ex-Barnet striker who is on trial with Bristol City, despite Cody McDonald’s arrival from Norwich.

"We are still looking to bring another one in if it’s possible," said Hessenthaler (pictured).

"I’ll be talking to the chairman in early part of the week and see where we go. You need goals and that’s how you are going to win leagues.

"I believe Cody (McDonald) will score us goals and I think we still need to improve up top. We have a young lad in Stefan Payne, who is improving but is still a young boy, and Dennis Oli. He will admit himself that he is not a natural goal scorer.

"They are not easy to get hold of because everybody is after goalscorers.

"I believe we have got one and if we can get another one in then we’ll try and do that."
