Manager Andy Hessenthaler is interested in bringing Dover defender Matt Fish to Priestfield.
Fish (pictured) is out of contract at Dover and would be keen on a move back into the Football League after leaving Crystal Palace three years ago.
He can operate at right-back or centre-back and has made 112 appearances for Dover, scoring three goals.
Hessenthaler said: "Fish does interest me. He has been away on holiday and hasn’t committed himself to anywhere at the moment.
"He has been at Dover but he has been at a League club as he was at Palace, so he had a good pedigree as a youngster.
"He is someone that we could work with."
However, Hessenthaler played down a major raid on his former club, with only Fish likely to be on his shopping list this summer.
"I am looking beyond the Dover thing," added Hessenthaler.
"We need more pedigree in the club and that’s not being disrespectful to the players there.
"I don’t want to fall into the trap of bringing too many non-league players to the football club."
