Gillingham boss Mark Stimson was delighted to see his side reach the halfway mark towards the 50-point target he believes will be enough to stay in League 1.
The Gills’ 3-1 win over Stockport took their points tally to 25 and Stimson, pictured, said: "We want to get 50 points as quickly as possible. It was a great result on Saturday and for us to get a 3-1 win at this level is fantastic.
"We scored three goals which will probably be goal of the season contenders.
"What you have to do when you play teams around you is not lose. You don’t want them gaining any advantage and we’ve done it against a team who are sitting bottom of the table. We’ve just made the gap even bigger."
Stimson brought Febian Brandy back into the team after the striker shook off a thigh injury and it was a gamble he is glad he took.
Stimson said: "It was always fingers crossed and ‘don’t break down on us’, because if he did we might not see him for a while.
"I’m glad he was honest and said he was ready for it, because he made a difference."
