Gillingham boss Mark Stimson admitted his patience with certain players was at an end after Tuesday’s 2-0 defeat at Brighton.
Stimson, pictured, has already dropped summer signing Kevin Maher following the heavy defeat at Southampton and others are set to follow.
For Adam Miller it could mean a loan move is revived. A recent deal was scrapped due to injuries and a dip in other players’ form, including Maher’s.
Central defender Garry Richards is believed to be the other player who left Stimson frustrated.
Elliott Bennett converted a free-kick after Miller fouled him on the edge of the box and in the second half Richards’ man Tommy Elphick headed in a cross.
Stimson said: "There were a couple who started who we haven’t seen a lot of recently. We gave them a chance and they didn’t do themselves any justice. We’ll have to make changes and in those areas we can because we have personnel at the club who can play those positions.
"When you get a chance you have to take it and you have to do things simple.
"Right at the end their goalkeeper kicks the ball out. My two centre-halves have probably been taught since the age of three or four that when the goalkeeper kicks it don’t let the ball bounce.
"Our keeper had to come out and head it. We’re talking about grown men here, senior professionals – how can you account for that?"
