Gillingham v Bury
“The excitement starts now” insists Gills boss Mark Stimson, as he takes his side into their penultimate League 2 fixture of the season.
The Gills go into Saturday's home game against Bury still with an outside chance of making it back into League 1 automatically and, while that’s the case, Stimson will be pushing for maximum points.
He said: “We’ve put ourselves into a good position and like all other teams, it’s about who performs now that will get the big prize.
“We’ve just got to get over the finishing line now. There is still work to be done and the real excitement starts now.”
Stimson (pictured) admits his team’s chances of making the top three in League 2 are slim but with a spot in the play-offs already secured, there is plenty to look forward to.
“It’s a very slim chance,” admitted Stimson. “But Nottingham Forest probably thought that last season and they sneaked up as results went their way.
“The most important thing now is that we get the points and then you don’t know what could happen.”
Midfielder Adam Miller is Stimson’s only absentee as he serves the second of a two-game ban.
