Martin Allen will be treading on familiar territory when he
takes his team to Dagenham this weekend.

The Gillingham boss has family roots in that
part of east London and he’s hoping to make it a special day for
the visiting fans on Saturday. After winning his opening two League
2 games, Allen is now targeting three in a row.

“It is where all of my family are from and
it’s a great place,” said Allen (pictured).

“John Still (the Dagenham manager) is a really
good friend of mine. They are salt of the earth type of people for
me and my parents had a good upbringing there.

“I am looking forward to seeing Mr Still and
more importantly I am looking forward to our team going there and
putting on a good performance because we all know that Dagenham are
a tough team to play against.”

The Gills are likely to be backed by a big
following at Dagenham, something Allen has already enjoyed seeing
at Bristol City and Wycombe.

“The fans were mad, behind that goal, every
one of them, for the last 10 minutes (at Wycombe),” said Allen.

“We have seen in the Olympics what the
supporters and fans can do if they get behind the team and sing and
back their players. The players have worked so hard and the
supporters, I think, appreciate it."
