The asking price for Gillingham transfer target Danny Kedwell will not be lowered, according to his current club, AFC Wimbledon.

The Dons, who are preparing for their first campaign in the Football League, are resigned to losing their club captain (pictured), who handed in a transfer request earlier this month.

Gillingham are believed to be Kedwell’s preferred destination but the Gills are yet to table a bid that meets AFC Wimbledon’s valuation of the player.

A club statement from AFC Wimbledon, released at the end of last week, said: "Fans will want to know the situation regarding Danny Kedwell.

"This hasn’t changed, although we have agreed that we will listen to offers for his transfer, we won’t finalise anything unless we get a fee that matches his value to this club.

"Meanwhile, he continue here and will attend pre-season training when it starts at the end of next week."

Kedwell scored 24 goals last season, along with the winning penalty in the play-off final shoot-out against Luton.

The 27-year-old former Chatham and Lordswood forward was also the subject of interest from Crawley last summer.

AFC Wimbledon are believed to want £100,000 for the striker, who has one year left on his current deal. He is keen to leave after talks broke down over a new contract.
