Adam Miller is pleased to be starting to win some of the Gillingham fans back over.
Miller’s first-half goal in the 2-2 draw against MK Dons on Saturday doubled his season’s tally.
It brought a roar to Priestfield which was a far cry from the jeers ringing around the ground when Miller returned from a loan spell at Dagenham in the game against Tranmere almost two months ago.
He said: "It was nice. It’s lovely to hit the net and most of my goals at Priestfield have been at that end – I think it’s the Rainham End sucking them in.
"There were about 100 people who were singing my name and I don’t get to enjoy that too much. There is an issue around but if I get 100 singing my name it’s better than nobody singing my name.
"Either way, with all due respect, I’m not doing it for them. I’m doing it for myself, my fellow pros and my team. That’s the most important thing right now and for them to get behind me is an added extra.
"It’s not been a great season, I’m not going to lie.
"It started off nicely but football goes up and down but you get on with it and it’s about how you deal with it. Thankfully I’ve got great people around me at home who can help you deal with the downs as well as the ups.
"I’m just pleased it’s picking up and hopefully come the end of the season the most important thing is staying up.
"That would make a great season for me even though my own season has been up and down."
