Andy Barcham is excited about the challenges that lie ahead for him and Gillingham.
The 22-year-old capped his 50th appearance for the Gills perfectly with an early goal that laid the foundations for the 2-0 win over Millwall.
Barcham said: “I was very happy with it. There didn’t seem to be much on when Curtis (Weston) gave me the ball, so I decided to shoot.
“When you catch them like that you know they are going in, and it was a great feeling.
“It’s up there for me as one of the top goals in my career, and with my weaker foot. I work a lot with the coaches, shooting and crossing with both feet, so I wasn’t afraid to bring it across on to my left and have a go.
“We have got Leeds, Norwich and Southampton all coming up, and as a player you finish one game and are already looking forward to the next one. It’s an exciting team to be part of at the moment.”
