Curtis Weston is set to be sidelined for a number of weeks after a recurrence of a thigh injury forced him off the field against Torquay on Saturday.

The Gillingham midfielder (pictured) lasted less than half an hour of last weekend’s match at Priestfield and he will now have a scan on Thursday to assess the severity of the injury.

Gills boss Andy Hessenthaler said: There is a problem there that is continuing and it’s not right so we have to get him right before we bring him back.

"It’s no point trying to bring him back when he is not hundred per cent right."

Mark McCammon is also ruled out for this weekend with an ankle injury and he was awaiting news from a scan which took place on Tuesday.

Danny Jackman, meanwhile, is expected back to training on Thursday after recovering from an ankle injury but it will be too soon for him to be back in time to face his former club Northampton on Saturday.

Another player that will be missing this weekend is Josh Gowling, who is suffering with a virus.
