Midfielder Curtis Weston took his share of the blame for Gillingham’s defensive shortcomings against Tranmere on Saturday.
The 22-year-old admitted he was at fault for two of Tranmere’s four goals and apologised to his team-mates after the match.
“We’re disappointed with the goals we conceded, especially the last two,” said Weston.
“The gaffer said what the problems were with the goals. One of them (the second one) was a throw-in when the player ran off me and that’s my fault.
“I was at fault for the third goal as well, that was a bit down to me. We’ve got to sit down and get it out of our heads and get going again.
“It’s there to see. The gaffer said it in the team talk and, fair enough, I hold my hands up as he was right. It was my fault.”
But Weston admitted that the errors will only make him a stronger player and even more determined to make amends at Colchester on Tuesday.
“I’m going to go into the next game, for want of a better word, angry, because of what happened,” he said. “It will spur me on a bit more.”
