Gillingham midfielder Curtis Weston has agreed to extend his contract until the summer of 2012.

Weston (pictured) was a key member of Gillingham’s promotion winning team last season after signing for the club from Leeds in August 2008.

But with only a year left of his current deal, manager Mark Stimson made a move to secure the 22-year-old at the club for the long term.

Weston played 53 games for the Gills last season and scored some crucial goals, including the goal of the season against Shrewsbury in a 2-2 draw at Priestfield.

The midfielder still holds the record as being the youngest player ever to appear in an FA Cup final after making a substitute apperance for Millwall against Manchester United at Cardiff’s Millenium Stadium,aged 17 years and 119 days.

Weston, speaking to the club’s official web-site said: "I enjoy playing here so much and it’s brilliant to sign for that long."
