The snow this week has caused interruptions to our usual training schedule so the lads will have no excuses that they have not been well rested.
Not only have we had to deal with snow covering the training ground but the main problem is the area being rock hard, due to the big freeze.
Snow of course brings a fun side to training and you always find everyone acting as if they have never seen the stuff before.
After our last two fantastic away performances it is important to maintain the standards we have set ourselves over those last two games. This league is all about consistency and it’s amazing how quickly your league position can change after a few wins in a row.
There really is a new sense of belief about the club at the moment and I’m sure the lads will be full of confidence.
The squad is looking fairly big again with all of the lads who were out on loan now back and a couple of the injured boys rejoining the sessions. I’m pleased for Kingy and Garry Richards to be back amongst it because I don’t know how they got through all those months stuck in the gym.
It’s been a month for me now out injured and to say I’m getting fed up would be an understatement. The news that I could still be a couple of weeks away was certainly not what I wanted to hear, but it’s something you have to deal with and try to keep yourself motivated.
One positive I thought, was that I would be out of the sub-zero conditions but how wrong I was!
The gym is like a freezer and the hydro pool, which is supposed to be like hot bath temperature, is bordering on an ice bath. I suppose the only benefit is that it does make you work that bit harder.
All of the boys have been busy investing in their thermal training gear, another sign of changing times among the modern day players. I’m pretty sure you wouldn’t have got away with wearing hats and gloves and most definitely not tights during a training session about 10 years ago.
Bayo was wearing a woolly hat a couple of months ago so I’m looking forward to seeing his attire and how he copes at the training ground.
