The Torquay game was a massive disappointment but we can’t dwell on the ‘if only’ as we’ve got a winnable game at Northampton on Saturday to now focus on.
They are on a bit of a horrid run at the moment so it’s important for us to start well and pile more pressure on them.
They will need to come at us as they are desperate for a win which will hopefully create more space and openings for us.
At Priestfield last Saturday, there was a sense of tension throughout the ground which surprised me a little considering our last couple of performances.
This tension seemed to get to the players a little and we never got any flow into our game.
We kept going, though, and Cody scored another goal with a great finish to continue his fine form. With less than 10 minutes to go we should have seen the game out.
They won a dubious free-kick just outside our box and unfortunately Alan Julian has let one go through him.
Jules was quick to hold his hands up afterwards and no one was more disappointed than him. There is no point entirely blaming him, though.
The free-kick could have been avoided leading up to the goal with errors that happened further up the pitch.
Let’s not forget it was a week earlier at Port Vale he probably won us a point with a great double save.
