Gillingham have been dealt a blow in their bid for a new striker after Lloyd Owusu opted to sign for Luton Town.

The experienced striker (pictured) was due for a trial at Gillingham this week as manager Andy Hessenthaler continues to look for additions to his front line.

Owusu had just returned from Australia and recently tried his luck at Port Vale.

Luton, who play in Blue Square Bet Premier, have signed the striker on a deal until the end of the season.

It leaves Hessenthaler to look elsewhere for someone to give Cody McDonald and Adebayo Akinfenwa competition up-front for the Gills.
