Gillingham manager Mark Stimson isn’t expecting to be doing any business before the loan transfer window shuts on Thursday.

From 5pm on Thursday no clubs will be permitted to do deals for contracted players until the window re-opens at the start of January.

Only keepers can change hands between clubs and that must be under exceptional circumstances.

Stimson’s most recent signing was that of striker Febian Brandy from Manchester United and the Gills boss is happy with the squad he’s got.

“I wouldn’t have thought we are going to do anything,” said Stimson. “We have got a decent bunch of players now who we can work with until January and then see what happens then.”

The Gills have a handful of players out on loan with Adam Miller (Dagenham), Tom Wynter (Dover), Andy Pugh (Welling) and Luis Cumbers (AFC Wimbledon) currently plying their trade in the lower divisions.

It leaves just a few players in reserve for Stimson and he’s unlikely to let any others go out on loan.

“I doubt if any more will go out because of our squad now was 20 on Tuesday.

“There are some games coming up as we go Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday again and we need all the bodies we can.”

The transfer window opens again on January 1, when permanent and loan deals are authorised. That window is currently scheduled to close again on Sunday, January 31 at midnight.
