Gillingham have concluded their second month of the season now and it’s time for KM Group readers to have their say on the September player of the month.
We’ve whittled the selection down to a top six and we now need you to decide who takes home the bottle of champagne and gets the coveted monthly crown.
Danny Spiller walked away with the honours at the end of August and now you can decide who deserves the September accolade.
The winner will be announced on Monday and the winner will be presented with champagne in the home game against Stockport next Saturday.
BARRY FULLER
The Gillingham captain leads by example and although he may not be the most cultured player he certainly makes up for that in effort, desire and commitment. A couple of bookings in the last month is testament to his no-nonsense approach.
MATT LAWRENCE
After a steady start at full-back he’s really settled into his central defensive roll well and is becoming a real leader of the defence. He recovered well from the defensive nightmare at Bury and has helped the Gills to three clean sheets in the last four games.
CODY McDONALD
Cody is gradually getting into the groove following a pre-season ruined by injury. He’s looking lively alongside the big man Akinfenwa and must be a handful to mark for defenders. Rewarded by his endeavour with his first Gills goal against Burton.
CHRIS PALMER
Palmer has reverted to left-back recently as cover and held his own well but it’s been his displays playing left midfield where he’s really shone, netting against Bury and scoring both in the win over Shrewsbury, while also putting in some top deliveries.
JACK PAYNE
The young midfielder has played every minute of September and continues to impress with his maturity. He has shown a great range of passing, he puts in numerous defensive tackles and his long throws have helped cause problems for opposition defences.
DANNY SPILLER
Like Payne, he’s played every minute, and that’s despite having injections in his Achilles. It hasn’t stopped the combative midfielder from putting every ounce into each of the games and he’s fulfilled a number of positions across the midfield.
