The Gills failed to taste victory during January but it wasn’t all doom and gloom and now’s the time to pick your star player from the past month.
New faces have been brought into the Gills team during the last few weeks with youngsters Jack Payne and Tom Wynter among those selected on the short-list this time around.
We’ve picked six of the best for you to choose from.
Mark Bentley
Last month’s winner filled in three different positions during the month. He played in the centre of defence, central midfield and on the right wing, keeping things steady in each department.
Barry Fuller
Few players have managed to keep their place in the team during a difficult spell for the Gills but Fuller has been there every step of the way, showing real determination when the going has been tough.
Josh Gowling
Back on Saturday after a groin injury and looked solid as ever. Continues to improve and he’s developing a good understanding with new-boy Darren Dennehy in the centre of defence.
Alan Julian
Stepped in to replace Simon Royce and has grown in stature the more games he has played. After several great saves of late and two clean sheets he’s impressed many fans.
Jack Payne
Returned to the side recently and looked comfortable in the centre of midfield. He’s show maturity above his years again and looks one for the future.
Tom Wynter
He’s currently keeping senior pros John Nutter and Chris Palmer out of the squad after being moved to left-back. Young, determined and loves to get stuck in.
