Faversham 0 Gillingham 5
Mark McCammon scored twice as Gillingham comfortably secured another pre-season victory on Thursday night.
Four second half goals helped see off a hard working Faversham side with young Luke Rooney also on target again for the third consecutive game.
Gillingham manager Mark Stimson again got plenty of players involved with trialists Sam Long, Jordan Parkes and Rashid Yussuff in the squad once more.
Adam Miller almost claimed an early goal but saw his low shot hit the post and it was Stuart Lewis who opened the scoring with a long range effort on 35 minutes.
Andy Barcham was twice denied just before the break with good saves coming from keeper Rob French.
With just two second half minutes gone McCammon netted his first of the night, with a cross from Rooney, and the goal provider got on the scoresheet himself mid-way through the half as John Nutter’s deep cross fell at his feet.
Former Charlton midfielder Yussuff netted a well taken goal to make it 4-0 and the evening’s work was complete when McCammon headed in from close range following Luis Cumbers’ cross.
Faversham themselves almost got on the scoresheet but Simon Royce made a fantastic stop to deny Hamshare a deserved goal, after a great display at right-back, while Craig Thompson clipped the top of the goal with a minute to go.
Manager Mark Stimson said: "It was another good workout for us. We showed a good attitude and moved the ball around nicely and got a couple of goals as well.
"There were some pleasing aspects including the midfield three of Kevin Maher, Curtis Weston and Toks (Rashid Yussuff) who really linked up well.
"We’ve had three games now and had no injuries and that’s the most important thing for me. The boys are bright and their flying at the moment and off the field they are doing things professionally. They are really excited about this league and rightly so because there are some big games."
