Gillingham travel to Dagenham on Tuesday, with boss Mark Stimson looking to keep his reserve players on their toes.
He’s also hoping that several players can do enough to impress visiting scouts in the practice game so that other clubs will take them off his wage bill.
Stimson (pictured) said: "It’s been arranged so that the boys who aren’t playing can work on their fitness and if there are any scouts who want to look at them in a game situation they can.
"When I first came into the club I always said there has to be more reserve team fixtures and I try to get as many as I can.
"Some players need that to keep their sharpness up and, if they aren’t playing here, maybe to perform somewhere else."
Interest for available players has been slow with Garry Richards, Adam Miller and Andy Pugh among those that Stimson is understood to be keen to send out on loan.
