Andy Hessenthaler is seeking a quick fix on Monday as his team go head-to-head with fellow play-off chasers Rotherham.

The Gills’ season is in danger of faltering at the final hurdle after they slipped out of the play-off positions following Saturday’s 4-2 defeat by Barnet.

"Saturday’s result has got to be a one-off if we are to get into the play-offs," said the Gills boss.

"We have to write it off. We will pick a team with character because we are going to need it up there at Rotherham.

"Good teams bounce back. We have a tough match to go and bounce back at."

Hessenthaler will bring experienced campaigner Kevin Maher, pictured, into the team as a way of combating Rotherham’s attacking force.

He said: "There won’t be wholesale changes because we haven’t got loads of players to choose from. Kevin will play and he was playing whatever, even if we had won 4-0 (on Saturday).

"There will be some changes and there are a few knocks and a few egos that have been bruised."

Joe Martin is likely to come into contention again after missing Saturday’s game with a thigh injury.

Curtis Weston and Stefan Payne, however, will both still be missing through injury.
