Gillingham have added two more players to their squad ahead of Saturday’s League 2 opener against Bradford City.
Experienced defender Adam Barrett has signed from Bournemouth on a one year contract, with an option of a second, while Brenford winger Myles Weston (right) has joined on a two-year deal.
Both players go straight into Martin Allen’s squad for the game against Bradford at Priestfield.
Gills manager Allen said: “Adam has had a tremendous career and has experienced three promotions as a player and a captain.
“I have watched Myles many times and he adds another dimension with speed and ability to play in wide areas. We have been after both of these players for several weeks now.
“They both have good experience of getting promotion from this division and with these two we get leadership, goals, experience, speed and excitement.”
Barrett (pictured left) began his professional career at Leyton Orient and subsequently played for Plymouth, Mansfield, Bristol Rovers, Southend – where he made over 250 appearances between 2004 and 2010 and was a key player in their rise to the Championship – Crystal Palace, Leyton Orient and then at Bournemouth.
London-born Weston is a former England youth international and began his football career at Charlton and had two seasons at Notts County before moving to Brentford three years ago.
Allen will also be able to call upon new signing Deon Burton on Saturday, after the striker received international clearance to play.
