Gillingham manager Andy Hessenthaler has made his third summer signing with the acquisition of defender Tony Sinclair.
The 25-year-old defender has penned a one-year deal, with the club retaining the option to extend it for a further year.
Sinclair has started all five of Gillingham’s pre-season matches and Hessenthaler has seen enough to convince him to bring him onboard for the forthcoming League 2 campaign.
Speaking after Tuesday night’s win over Peterborough, Hessenthaler said: "I thought again he was outstanding. Since that Braintree game, where he was a little sloppy and perhaps a bit nervous, he hasn’t put a foot wrong.
"He’s an athletic boy and we can also play him at right-back. I think he can comfortably play in the second division."
Sinclair started out at Gillingham in the youth team but dropped into non-league where he played for Beckenham Town, Fisher, Welling and most recently Woking.
