Simeon Jackson is preparing for life in League 2 with a possible international clash against Diego Maradona’s Argentina.
The Gillingham striker has been called up for Canada’s squad which wlll face the South American giants on May 24 before meeting Venezuela less than a week later.
Jackson (pictured on Canada duty), 23, has finished the last two seaosns as Gillingham’s top scorer and despite relegation to English football’s basement division he remains firmly in Canada coach Stephen Hart’s plans.
Last summer Jackson competed for Canada in the CONCACAF Gold Cup, helping his team reach the quarter-finals. He has so far made eight appearances for the national team and scored once.
Argentina are preparing for the forthcoming World Cup in South Africa next month and will meet Canada in Buenos Aires. Jackson will then head to Merida in Venezuela on May 29 for the second match before taking a summer rest.
