Gillingham manager Andy Hessenthaler could have to keep strikers Cody McDonald and Adebayo Akinfenwa on the sidelines for a second successive weekend.
Akinfenwa (pictured) has been struggling with a groin strain, which was still causing him problems at the end of training on Tuesday, and McDonald (calf) didn’t train at the start of this week.
Ahead of Saturday's game against Torquay, Hessenthaler said: "Bayo (Akinfenwa) may be a risk for the weekend. We may rest him for another game to get him 100 per cent right. We have to monitor him and Cody. It all depends on training."
Almost certain to be back, however, is Danny Spiller who has recovered from his Achilles injury.
Danny Jackman has had an injection in an ankle injury but won’t be back training until after the weekend.
Hessenthaler is concentrating on keeping the points ticking over in League 2 so his team can force their way up the table.
He added: "In our last two games we’ve had a win and a draw and we need to go on a bit of a run. It’s important that we follow up those performances.
"Torquay aren’t just going to let us win, we need to earn the right to win and keep up the standard we set at Port Vale."
Is it worth risking Cody McDonald and Adebayo Akinfenwa if they are not 100 per cent fit? Have your say below.
