Gillingham will find out who they will face in the first round of the FA Cup on Sunday afternoon.
The final qualifying matches take place on Saturday with four Kent sides hoping to make it through to the first round proper.
Hythe, Dartford and Ebbsfleet are all involved and Hessenthaler’s former club Dover are also in with a shout of joining Gillingham in the draw.
Hessenthaler said: "I hope they (Dover) get through. It turned a little sour there which is unfortunate but I still have a lot of time for those people, although I don’t know if they’ve got a lot of time for me now.
"I hope they beat Farnborough and if they get us in the draw, then they get us. It will be interesting."
Hessenthaler left Dover for the Gills in the summer and was followed by Ian Hendon and Darren Hare.
Chairman Paul Scally would have no problems if the Gills drew Dover.
"I haven’t got any issues with Dover," said Mr Scally.
"I actually
enjoy watching them and did so a few times when Hessy was there. It’s a lovely club, with good fans. I would just like to get past the first or second round."
