Gillingham start their League 2 campaign with a home match against Cheltenham on Saturday, August 7.

They follow that up with a trip to Hereford a week later before Chris Sutton’s Lincoln City visit on August 21.

One game that will now stand out for the Gills will be the games against Barnet, who are managed by former boss Mark Stimson.

The Gills travel to Underhill on Tuesday, November 23 and the return at Priestfield takes place on April 23.

Gillingham will make their first ever visit to Morecambe’s new Globe Arena on Saturday, August 28.

The Christmas fixtures see the Gills travel to Aldershot on Boxing Day before Port Vale travel to Kent on December 28. The New Year’s Day fixture is against Stevenage at home - a team whom plenty of Gillingham players once played for, including captain Barry Fuller and goalkeeper Alan Julian.

Stevenage were promoted from the Blue Sqaure Premier last season and it will be the first time the two sides have played each other in the Football League.

Gills travel to the other promoted newcomers Oxford United on November 20.

Gillingham will be hoping for a better start to the season than they had in 2007 when they travelled to Cheltenham, under the management of Ronnie Jepson, and lost 1-0 with two players being sent off.

The Gills end the season on May 7, assuming they are not involved in the play-offs, with an away game at Chesterfield’s new b2net stadium.

Gillingham face Norwich away in the first round of the Carling Cup on week beginning August 9. The first round of the FA Cup takes place on Saturday, November 6.
