Andy Frampton is putting all his focus on getting the League 2 title won before thinking about the future.

The versatile 33-year-old is out of contract in the summer and insists neither he nor any other of the Gillingham players are looking too far ahead.

“I don’t think anyone has given League 1 much thought,” said Frampton.

“Since we won promotion our main focus has been to get this top spot and make sure we complete the job.

“Having done all this hard work it would be a waste to now get sidetracked by thinking about anything else. We are just focusing on getting the title.

“We can’t get ahead of ourselves and what happens this season is what is most important. We can then forward to the future in the summer.”

Frampton is likely to find out if he will be offered a new deal at the Gills when the team return from their trip to Benidorm at the start of May.

He has already attained a level 3 (UEFA B) coaching badge in preparation for life after his playing career ends, but believes he has more to offer still.

“I feel I still have a few more years in my legs but let’s just get the job done on Saturday first,” he said.

“At the end of the season we can start worrying about things like that.”

Frampton has won promotion before but never tasted the title.

“I have had 16 years or so as a professional and this is the first time I have had the chance to win a title and so it has to be grabbed,” he said.

“Winning it would mean a great deal. A lot of people have won promotion but not many can say that they have a title on their CV.”

It would also be the first time that manager Martin Allen has won a title, as player or in management.

But Allen (pictured) won’t be including it on his CV.

“I haven’t even got a CV,” he said, during Thursday’s pre-match press conference.

“I just phone people up when I’m out of work and say ‘give us a job’ and they usually say no. Mr Scally said come and have a chat.

“He asked me about my laptop presentation and my plan for the future. I told him I didn’t have a computer with me. It was at home.

“He asked me where my CV was but I told him I didn’t have one. You can look that up easy on Wikipedia. I haven’t got a CV and I never have had. I don’t have an agent and I never will have one either.”
