Mark Bentley has enjoyed a good run in the side this season and knows that with his contract up in the summer he needs games and performances.

Speaking after Gillingham's midweek defeat at Brighton, Bentley said: "Maybe I’m playing because of Simon King’s injury, but I have to take that opportunity and play as many games as possible.

"I’m out of contract at the end of the season and desperate to carry on playing for Gillingham."

He added: "I’m going to be 32 in January and have a wife and kids to support. I’m doing a bit of studying at the moment because I know I may only have a few years left.

"I need to be turning a few heads and want to be playing for Gillingham. I’m going to give my all and can’t do any more than that."
