Mark McCammon returned for Gillingham on Saturday and boss Mark Stimson is hoping the striker can stay fit and show what he can do.
McCammon (pictured) has had an injury plagued career at Gillingham and he came off the bench in Saturday’s FA Cup game against Southend after shrugging off his latest hamstring injury.
"It’s good to see him back," said Stimson. "He had a couple of runs and he felt no effect. I think Mark, like all of us, would like a two or three month period where he is injury free.
"The more he does of that the better he’ll get. He’s a player we’ll have to use at certain periods in games. He hasn’t played for a bit and he gives you something different."
Stimson is currently pinning his hopes on his smallest strikers Simeon Jackson and Febian Brandy but knows every squad needs a big man.
He said: "You always need a big striker in your squad incase you need to mix it up.
"That’s why we brought Mark here and there will be games where we need him."
