Mark Stimson will quiz youngster Luke Rooney on Monday over his delayed response to a new deal.

Rooney, 18, was offered new terms over a week ago which would tie him to the club until 2013 but Stimson admits he’s still waiting on a decision.

"I’ve not heard from Luke’s advisors unfortunately and at the moment and I’m not sure what’s going on," said Stimson.

Rooney, pictured, has made an impressive start to his professional career, having being promoted from the youth team in the summer and netting twice this season already, but Stimson feels that other people are getting into his head.

Stimson said: "He looks a little confused and with his body language as well.

"He played in the reserves on Wednesday and didn’t play like the Luke Rooney we know. He went back to the old Rooney that I saw in the youth team last year and that’s definitely not going to be good enough on the big arena.

"He is probably confused with what people are telling him and I’m going to sit down with him and get to the bottom of it."

Fellow youngster Jack Payne recently signed a similar deal but time could be running out for Rooney, as Stimson hinted the offer may not be around for long, if at all. Asked if the deal was still on offer, Stimson said: "Who knows?"
