Stuart Lewis added his name to the list of goal of the season contenders after netting Gillingham’s equaliser at Exeter on Monday.

It was Lewis’ first career league goal and he was thrilled at finally getting his name on the scoresheet.

He said: "It’s brilliant and a great feeling. It’s been a long time coming. I came close at the end of last season and I can’t explain what a relief it was when it hit the back of the net.

"As the defender headed it out, I was lurking on the edge of the box and I took a touch. I sliced it a bit but that took it away from the keeper.

"With the circumstance of the goal as well it meant that we got a good point."
