Gillingham boss Andy Hessenthaler admitted his team looked like the non-league outfit following Saturday's embarrassing defeat to Dover.

His Gills team were second best in most departments against his former Dover side.

"All credit goes to Dover," he said. "They were the better side from start to finish. I hope they go on and get a decent draw and go further because that's what they deserve.

"They are good players and that's why I brought them to Dover. I'm delighted for them and the boys and disappointed for ourselves and in the end we were the non-league team and it looked like they were the pro team.

"We had no fire in our bellies. It was FA Cup day at home and there was no fire from the start. Second half we had a go but we didn't show enough passion.

"You can talk about quality but you have to have drive and commitment and we didn't have any of that."

Hessenthaler will meet with chairman Paul Scally on Saturday night to discuss what direction the club take next.

They currently sit 20th in League 2 and are now out of all cup competitions.

"I'm right up for this challenge and there is no way I will be walking away from this football club because I want to turn it around."
