Barry Fuller believes the club can make a good impression in League 1

Gillingham captain Barry Fuller is hoping last Saturday’s Wembley success will be just the start of things to come.

The Gills will be playing back in League 1 next season and the 24-year-old believes the club are capable of making a much bigger impression than they did last time around.

He said: "Next year we may bring a few new faces in and kick on. We’re young and hungry.

"We want more and we’re not stopping here. You never know what is going to happen next year.

"This has shown what we are all about. We’re a good footballing side and when it comes down to fitness and working other sides, we’re brilliant.

"It’s been a massive season and it has ended great for us."

Fuller is now hoping the side’s foundations can be kept intact, including player-of-the-year Simon King.

He added: "He is wholehearted in what he does and people love him.

"Hopefully, the club can keep hold of him as he’ll be massive for us next year."
