A 12-year-old Medway girl was rushed to hospital with serious head injuries following an accident in Maidstone town centre.

Police are appealing for information following the incident at 2.24pm yesterday in Lucerne Street.

The youngster, who was a pedestrian, was rushed to Maidstone General Hospital for treatment.

Overnight she was moved to Kings College Hospital, London, where she is in a critical but stable condition.

PC Guy Miller, of the serious collision investigation unit, said one car was involved in the accident and roads around Lucerne Street and Wheeler Street were closed while the incident was investigated.
