Girl seriously injured in Canterbury crash

A 16-year-old girl was seriously hurt when she was involved in a collision with a car in Canterbury.

The accident happened at 8.20pm Tuesday in Sturry Road near its junction with Starle Close.

The girl, who lives in the Canterbury area, was taken to the QEQM Hospital at Margate with head injuries, which are said to be life-threatening.

She was on foot when the crash happened. A 24-year-old local man driving the red Rover involved was not hurt.

Sturry Road was closed until 1am Wednesday and traffic was diverted around the scene to allow investigations by Kent Police's serious collision investigation unit.
