STARS of television and sport have responded to a schoolgirl’s remarkable effort to raise money for a new church hall.

Georgina Glithero, 13, hit on the idea of collecting autographed photographs of famous people for auction.

The results will become evident when photographs signed by Ant and Dec, Barbara Windsor and the other stars of Eastenders, Liverpool Football Club, the Coronation Street soap line-up, the casts of Emmerdale and Holby City, Lee Mead (currently starring in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat) and a host of other household names go under the hammer this weekend.

Georgina, a pupil at the Archbishop’s School, Canterbury and pack leader of the 2nd Harbledown Brownies, lives with her parents, Martin and Karen Glithero, at Rough Common Road, Canterbury.

Her all-star autograph collection will be at the rundown church hall of St Nicholas and All Angels, Harbledown, on Saturday afternoon.

Viewing starts at 2pm with Georgina’s collection given pride of place among lots that also include antique furniture, cutlery, a 20-inch colour television, oil paintings, silverware and many other items of value.
