Girls warned after handgun prank

A GROUP of girls fooling around with a BB handgun in Margate Market Place were given a stern warning by police.

The four teenagers - one of whom was wearing a black stocking over her head as a mask - were sitting on a seat on Monday evening when they were reported by a member of the public.

A police spokeswoman said: "It was clearly a prank but it is illegal to possess any type of weapon in a public place. The firearm in question turned out to be a BB gun, which was confiscated."
