Grandmother, 64, dies in crash

A GRANDMOTHER was killed and her teenage granddaughter seriously injured when their car rolled over on the M20 at Lenham, near Maidstone, at the weekend.

Police say the 64-year-old grandmother was at the wheel of the red Mazda when it appeared to go out of control and rolled over on its side before coming to a halt on the coastbound carriageway.

Fire crews and medics attended the scene and the 16-year-old was taken to Maidstone Hospital where her condition was said on Saturday night to be stable.

Police has not yet released the names of either the dead woman or her granddaughter.

There were two other passengers in the car, one of whom suffered minor injuries.
